The Roman Empire is a very large period of time, being over a thousand years in length when one considers the Eastern Empire. So the first question might be is there a specific period which interests you, and beyond that is there a specific topic? Is it religion that interests you? Or perhaps the military history or internal politics instead? I wouldn’t recommend Grant’s fall of the Roman Empire to someone interested in hearing about the good emperors for instance.
