Were there Jewish plantation owners in the American south?

Yes- there were. There weren't many, as I discuss in this post and this post; while Jews owned slaves at rates basically proportionate to their number in the population, most Jews lived in towns and cities rather than on plantations and owned smaller numbers of slaves there rather than large numbers as on plantations. While we know the names of a few Jews who owned plantations due to the extant documentation in archives, we know relatively little about most of these Jewish plantation owners and how their plantations operated.
