Is there a good internet source for reading official US Army WW2 Battle Reports?

by pregnantsinglemother

I was just watching Band of Brothers for the umpteenth time and watched the episode where Winters has to write up his account of a battle. Assume this must have occurred to an incredible order - have these been digitized and made available for public consumption? Ive tried googling and looking through the posts but have come up short, most likely due to my own incompetence.

Some reports are available. I emphasize some, because you’re correct that the sheer amount of paperwork that fighting units generated was immense. Many after action reports from the battalion to corps level can be found online at the Combined Arms Research Library’s website at https://cgsc.contentdm.oclc.org, particularly those of various armored units. There are also many papers written by postwar students of the various service schools on there that are quite useful as well. Apart from CARL I have found that division association websites, museums, and interested individuals have digitized some records- for instance, the son of a 35th Division man has taken time to digitize records of the division, which be accessed via the tabs found at this page http://www.coulthart.com/134/index.htm. The 1st Division museum has digitized records of the 1st Division and these can be accessed here https://firstdivisionmuseum.nmtvault.com/custom/About.jsp. Finally, many single records are out there in pdf format, they just take a while to find and the right keywords to bring them up.
