I was recently in a Wikipedia binge and came out of it feeling like I want to learn more about the Emirate of Sicily. I was aware of it mainly through the Norman conquest of Sicily, and knew very little at all about the actual history of the emirate itself, or the conquest of Sicily from the Byzantines. It seems fascinating, especially the Byzantine-Arab-Norman cultural mixing. I've been bopping around Amazon — and of course checked the books list here — but haven't found much in English that looked at all accessible. Any recs? Thanks so much!
