Hello All,
I asked this in r/sikh and was wondering if I could get an alternative perspective from someone who may be familiar with Sikh Warrior culture. From my understanding they have a long and proud warrior culture. I enjoy learning about warrior cultures and I hear the Sikhs have an extensive one. I am wondering:
Who were the Sikhs greatest enemies? What was Sikh warrior life in ancient times? What made them unique? What weapons and tactics did the use? Did sikhs have any strange warrior customs? Was there a code to being a Sikh warrior?
The Sikhs greatest enemy from a military point of view was the Mughal empire.
Sikhs lived near eachother and formed communities and villages around the Punjab region.
Sikh warriors normally wore chain mail, thick cloths and carried a sword called the kirpan along with the turban which had the khanda symbol on it.
We had a code and it was more ethical and moral than rules. I don’t know the exact one but it’s just a reflection on the Sikh religion e.g ( no raping, no murder of innocents, no halal meat ) etc.
We didn’t have many warrior customs besides showing a fallen enemy respect and refrain from fighting someone unarmed.
