So I wanted to learn a bit more about the history of the vikings era.. the way they lived.. their conquests.. all that is related to this subject, and that is a bit more than just a page in wikipedia. Also, the british kingdom, origins of the old English.. I find these the top of my interests, and would like to expand my knowledge on them. Which books would you all think i should pick?
For an overview survey of Viking-Age Scandinavia, Anders Winroth's The Age of the Vikings (2014) is good for a history more focused on written records, while Nordeide and Walker's The Vikings (2019) is a more archaeology-focused survey that has really impressed me.
On the English side, Nicholas Higham's The Anglo-Saxon World (2013) is my go-to survey work, but it is a bit outside my particular expertise, so I welcome other recommendations too.
