History of journalism: Why are so many traditional newspapers named “the sun”? Other newspaper names seem to describe the offerings of early printed news (tribune, gazette, journal, etc) but “sun” doesn’t fit into that category.

Examples: Baltimore Sun, Florida Sun, San Bernardino Sun, Las Vegas Sun, The Sun (London)

As the sun in the sky brings light, the newspapers named after the sun are meant to bring enlightenment. Ditto "star" names, and "beacon" (although "beacon" is much less common than "sun" and "star"). ("Argus" is a nice cute name, and much more common than I expected.)
