Had Europeans anything spicy to eat before the importation of spices to Europe?

This will depend upon one's interpretation of spicy. There were herbs aplenty however if you mean a product that gave a heat sensation in the mouth and nose then the only indigenous plants I can think of in the UK are horseradish, mustard and other cruciferous plants, radish and wild members of the oleum family.
