Why didn't Greece become a part of the Communist Eastern Bloc after the world war 2?

by Spurious02

Wouldn't it make more sense to be in the Eastern Bloc like the rest of the balkan countries? How did they end up with the capitalist/NATO side?

Greece was always a natural member of the west. Its culture, its people and its ideals were always more closely inclined to that of western Europe than the East.

Now, there was a civil war after WW2 between communists and capitalists but with help from the allies Greece managed to silence the communists and stay a solid part of the West.
