What are some great books upon the British colonization of India? Preferably 1700s-1800s

I would love to know more about my native country, and colonization by Britain seems like a good starting point. 1700s to 1800s is what I prefer, but a general book about its entire history is great too. I came here to ask large historians who know which books actually explain it properly rather than be biased.

If you want an economic history perspective, the most recent major work on British rule in India is Tirthankar Roy's 2019 "How British Rule Changed India’s Economy: The Paradox of the Raj." He has also written a great many other works on the economic history of India, textile manufacture and trade, the East India Company, and so on, but for a general narrative of colonialism, that's the current state of the art.
