Did Africans try and stop the slave trade once they found out the conditions of American slaves?

So as we all know the 'africa had slaves too' retort comes up very often but I think I'm correct in saying that the way America and Africa treated their slaves VERY differently.

In Africa slaves were mostly poor, indentured servants, criminals, conquered people, they could earn their freedom, their children weren't born in to slavery, they weren't separated from their families, could learn to read/write and for the most part taken care of by their owners.

In America, slaves were seen as nothing more than property, separated from their families, castrated, raped, had teeth/skin stolen, breeded, couldn't read/write, their children were born slaves, couldn't earn freedom and it didn't matter who you were you were a slave and were overall treated like shit.

Sidenote: I'm sure they raped and mistreated their slaves in Africa as well but not to the same extent (Correct me if I'm wrong)

So my question is when people in Africa eventually found out how slaves in America were being treated did they try and stop the slave trade or did they seriously not care

Bonus Question: How did they decide who would be slaves in America, was it criminals and poor people, or was it just any random person

Asking about America cause I'm American but if you know about how they were treated in other parts of the world, please tell me.

I can touch on a few things. It’s important to clarify again that Africa is a mass of different Kigndom and tribes, villages, civilizations, groups, rleigijs, languages, etc. I say this to make one recall that saying “Africans sold their own” is a false statement often touted by racist.

The people sold into slavery by other africans were usually prisoners of war, criminals, people from places they were already warring with, or slaves from other kingdoms, tribes, etc. Some were also servants who were sold but as you point out that’s entirely different than what was in store for them in America.

Usually what would happen is that when a particular group resisted slavery, the whites would either attack or get another group to attack them (often taking advantage of pre-existing conflicts) and then collect their slaves.

The idea that africans sold their own implies that slavery was the choice or fault of the african people and it ignores that “No” was not an acceptable answer when the Europeans/Americans/White people came looking for slaves.

Random people were rounded for slavery, usually the young, healthy, women, etc. But this was not done by the people they belonged to.

The short answer is yes, many tried and fought back and were enslaved anyway.
