Did jews interact with vikings?

by spidersoldier99

There is a very famous jewish rabbi named rashi who was born in france in the year 1040, during the viking age. I know that the vikings/norse had some battles with the french and raided their villages, so it begged the question- did jews and vikings ever interact with one another? By trading or by being raided?

I havent found any sources that approve that, but if there was a jewish community there then it seems possible. I am interested to know what kind of relationship they had if any, so thanks if you have an answer.

Sorry for this stupid rambling i just want to know

I don't know much about this myself, but there were definitely significant (if not exactly large) Jewish communities in France and the Rhineland at this time, and a past answer discusses whether Jews there or elsewhere are reported to have had contact with Vikings/Norse. (That said, I personally disagree with the OP's statements about the semantics of the word "Jew"- but that's largely incidental.)
