Today:

Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.

The Great AskHistorians Conference Round Up! Below we have all the megathreads, all the Q&A’s and other associated threads! Did I really need to do all this? Probably not. Did I do it anyway? Yes indeed.

Along with the main threads we had some great networking events designed to give everyone a chance to meet and mingle. I met some fantastic folks, flairs, non flairs, the great folks from r/MuseumProsn and plenty of regulars and random’s! Had some great talks about things like playback theater, Australian wildlife, burritos & food history, tourist stories and so much more. So shout out to all those folks!

There’s still plenty of time to check out the videos, and maybe even still ask some questions in the Q&A!

And that was the line up of the conference! Huge thanks to everyone for participating, a huge hello to everyone I met in the networking events and chatted with, and a massive well done to everyone who put so much work into this. Feel free to reach out to me if you have any feedback, I’d love to hear it! Shoot me a message sometime and let me know.

Otherwise have a fantastic day everyone! The rest of the digest will come later!

Every week I like to identify some of "The Real Questions" of /r/AskHistorians! Here, we honor the more atypical questions that get asked here: the bizarre, abnormal, strangely niche or oddly specific, interestingly worded or built on uncommon premises, or otherwise amusing questions that make me say, "Finally, someone is asking the real questions." We look at little-known customs, unexpected historical anecdotes, unusual cultural traits, and other more unique questions that go beyond the regular brand of sociopolitical history that this subreddit so fabulously covers.

Of course, we had the realest of times at the digital conference this past week. The great /u/gankom has already covered that part of the week, so I don't really need to recap anything here. It was a unique experience, and wonderful moment in and for digital history.

Anyway, below are my entries for this week! What do you think were the realest questions?

Hello everyone! It’s time for the Sunday Digest, and coming in at the end of a simply incredibly week! We had the first ever AskHistorians Online Conference, which was great, and tons of awesome threads! This weeks digest is going to be a bit different because of it. We’ll have our usual two threads (overlooked questions and answered answers!), and a third comment chain dedicated just to the conference stuff. So make sure to check it out and watch some great history videos!

Don’t forget to check out the usual weekly features, and thank the folks who put so much incredible work into things this week!

That wraps us up for the week, and gives everyone a plethora of awesome threads to check out. Not to mention hours of videos to watch!

Spare a moment for those interesting questions that remain unanswered! I don’t have a huge list this week, I was somewhat occupied with other things. (Hello to everyone I saw at the various conference events!) So feel free to post up your own interesting questions, or other ones that caught your eye.

Don’t forget to check out the other comment chain on the realest questions elsewhere in the thread. It’s a fantastic collection!
