Hey y'all,
Does anyone happen to have any resources they wouldn't mind sharing regarding self-determination and/or the arbitrariness of sovereignty in WWI? Any resources for any intended audience would do—I don't mind examining whatever y'all share.
Thanks in advance!
When you say "in WWI" do you mean during the conflict itself (e.g., say, Germany as an arbitrarily sovereign entity in 1914) or do you mean in response to Wilson's 14 Points?
I can point you to some stuff on the response to the 14 Points in the Middle East (where the US had not declared war against the Ottomans), the leaking of Sykes-Picot and the consequent issuing of the Balfour Declaration and Anglo-French Joint Statement that called for the "final liberation of the peoples so long oppressed by the Turks and the establishment of governments and administrations deriving their authority from the initiative and the free choice of the native populations."
But just want to make sure that that's what you're asking about/is within the area that you're interested in.
