McVeigh, Rory. The Rise of the Ku Klux Klan: Right-wing Movements and National Politics. Uni. of Minnesota Press, 2009.
Parsons, Elaine Frantz. Ku-Klux: The Birth of the Klan during Reconstruction. The University of North Carolina Press, 2015.
Pegram, Thomas R. . One Hundred Percent American: The Rebirth and Decline of the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s. Ivan R. Dee, 2011.
Those should get you started. Parsons is focused on the First Klan, and the rest on the Second. Can toss more your way if needed, but that is a solid basis.
