I have been looking for a decent academic book to discuss the intricacies and mis-conceptions around Feudalism and what a Feudal society actually looked like.
This is the only thread I could find on the subject: https://www.reddit.com/r/AskHistorians/comments/vpt1h/any_good_books_about_feudalism/
Since it is 8 years old, I wanted to know if there was anything new?
Feudalism is not a thing, was not a thing. It depends on who you ask.
Read what /u/idjet has written about what Feudalism is and is not
idjet and /u/TheGreenReaper7 later hosted a 'Feudalism Didn't Exist' AMA thread.
/u/Miles_Sine_Castrum has also written a short essay about the historiography of feudalism. with citations as recent as 2012 for you to peruse.
I also want to draw your attention to the well-curated, well-annotated subreddit booklist about the Middle Ages.
