Did Elizabeth I. became queen only because Anne Boleyn chose to die? If so, why?

by xyabek

I was scrolling through the internet looking up info about Anne Boleyn and I recently read that Anne had a choice about her death( if she would live or if she will die), it also said that if she would chose to live Elizabeth will not be able to become a queen. I would love to know more about it, but my English is not good so I wasnt able to find it on the internet. Can you please tell me more about it? How come is that? Why did she chose death? Thank you

Hi. Short answer which is good and kinda bad.

I have never heard of Anne Boleyn being given such a choice and the facts of her fall from power are fairly well known.

She was convicted of infidelity against Henry and sentenced to death.

Elizabeth didn’t escape her mother’s punishment and was declared illegitimate and bastard for some years (before an ageing Henry placed her back in the line of succession).

It sounds like a lovely romantic idea you just described, but it certainly is fictional. Hope that helps.

Please do ask if you are confused by anything.
