So, I just so this video on Twitter https://twitter.com/ETAwakening/status/1315023011607527424?s=19
And this person, who seems to be a teacher (I unfortunately didn't manage to find another source or context for this video) anecdotally says "At some point we ruled Egypt [...] You can say Egypt is historically a part of China." What is he referring to ? I thought it might be the Mongol Empire, since I read somewhere that since many ethnic mongols have lived in China for centuries, Chinese consider Mongols an ethnic minority of China and consider Genghis Khan and Kubilaï Khan Chinese rather than foreigners who invaded China, but even from this point of view, did the Mongols actually conquer Egypt ? I thought they'd be stopped in Syria by the Mamluks; but did they temporarily conquer Egypt before being repelled, or is the speaker referring to something else ? Like maybe since the Mamluks were originally slaves, many of whom were of Turkik origin, there could've been Uyghurs among them ?
[EDIT : I'm not sure why I have so many upvotes, but since I seem to have an audience, I'd like to clarify and give an update :
I've had two answers so far, one of which has been deleted, the second was sent to me by direct message, since it's author knew he wasn't disposed to write a "AskHistorians" level answer.
Neither of those who replied seemed to know what this person is referring to, and seemed to think it was simply false. They also agreed that the video was propaganda.
A third answer also appeared in my notifications while I was typing this, it seemed to have also been deleted, and before I could read it completely, but from the preview I saw kn the notification, it also considered this video bs.
-This is also my sentiment. But while acknowledging it as propaganda, I thought the speaker could've still used facts as to make his argument seem more credible... So far it seems he didn't.]
So, basically it is a conspiracy theorist in China who published a reference book on 1st December 2017 and called himself historian because of its work. We don't know exactly who he is, we only know his internet name as 兵策儒剑, a Chinese blogger on sina. The book is called 鹰蛇之夏in which he stated because some "similarity" between the Chinese and ancient Egypt language ( both are kinda hieroglyphics after him), and because actual human are out of Africa, that ancient Egypt is surely the xia dynasty of china. Meaning Chinese culture is originally from Egypt. It is totally BS(sorry)
The book is a pure comedy when it was read by a true historian or someone having a critical thinking, it has pure conspiracy theories inside it such as a statement that ancient Egyptians are East Asian typed and it's only some times after that they got replaced as middle East typed people. However there are tons of low educated Chinese who believed it because it was spread out off control on the internet.
The author paid for its publication at the 中国发展出版社, a state drove publication house. The publisher was hugely criticized by Chinese scientifics for the irresponsible act of publishing such an infamy. It disappointed the whole Chinese scientific college and lowered the esteem of Chinese scientific on state publisher. The book get called out, however only after 6 months, once it was verified by competent editor, but it was quite late, more than 10000 physical books were sold and it have more than 500k views (some says 1-2 millions) on the internet, obliging the publisher to post a clarification post on the internet. (I'm trying to see where the clarification post was on the weibo of the publisher, but it seems it was took down)The internet version of the book is still not took down and there is often Chinese post that try to reignite it. the writer was took on lawsuit for misleading and scam and the original editor was fined for dereliction of duty and misconduct.
It then become a popular meme. What you see here is the professor joking with his students. there are absolutely no historical basis of China ruled Egypt.
