Follow-up question: how did his supporters react to German suppression of Naziism after the war? Not only OP’s “did they realize they were wrong” question, but the ones that didn’t. Were there demonstrations? Protests? Did other countries welcome them? (Argentina is frequently used as a joke for this)
Also, how did the ones who “woke up” react/relate to their new reality?
