I’m in my 40s and I remember hearing about violence and bombings in Northern Ireland. I’ve read and seen Angela’s Ashes and it’s a running theme throughout. Is that still the state of things there? How did England end up with Northern Ireland?
More can always be said on the matter, if anyone else is willing to take on a topic as fraught and as near to living memory as Northern Ireland.
For the meantime, OP, you may be interested in u/thefeckamIdoing's six-post treatment on the Troubles, which is "for all of its length, a short summery that leaves out infinite detail."
I can't top the masterful series of posts on the Troubles already linked here, but for a historical overview of the issues between England and Ireland going back to the Middle Ages, you might find this older answer of mine a useful addition: 'How "British" were the Irish considered?'
