What would a typical fishing village in North Ireland circa 1800 consist of? What trades or services beyond fishing would be present?

Tomás O’Crohan wrote an autobiography called The Islandman that you might find interesting. He lived in a fishing village on Great Blasket Island off the coast from Kerry from the mid to late 19th century. Not exactly what you’re looking for but it’s pretty close off the top of my head.

It’s a pretty mundane life. Occasionally armed men would come to the island to strong arm them, but for the most part, these people lived in their own isolated world. Fishing was definitely the biggest industry on the island, and the most dangerous as a lot of people in O’Crohan’s life die will fishing at sea. For the most part, they had a developed community, they had a church that doubled as a school, a small farm, a small trading post and houses for all its residents. Visitors to the island were few and far between and children on the island were amazed at the sight of glasses when a visitor wearing them came to the island. While Ireland certainly went through a lot of social and political tensions during that time, the island was relatively removed from it.
