Not in 1942; after the Blitz finished in 1941 the majority of the Luftwaffe's bomber strength was on the Eastern Front, the main raids conducted by the remaining units were the 'Baedeker' raids (named after the guide books) against smaller, lightly defended towns and cities such as Exeter, Bath, Norwich, Ipswich and Canterbury. Fighter-bombers carried out 'tip and run' raids, mostly against coastal targets, though London was hit in January 1943; it was bombed more heavily again in Operation 'Steinbock' in early 1944, then hit by V-1 flying bombs from mid-1944 and V-2 rockets from late 1944.
