Were there nuclear bomb tests in Africa?

by hardestbones

We have seen a good number of A bombs being tested all over the world by different countries. However, why are there so few videos of tests being carried out in Africa?

The only tests that took place in Africa were by the French, in Algeria. One can find footage of these, but generally speaking the French tests are not as well-represented compared to other nations in footage, perhaps because the French have always been less forthcoming about their nuclear program than many nations.

No other country tested nuclear weapons in Africa. The only other nuclear nation that had colonies in Africa that could presumably have been used for testing was the United Kingdom, and they did their testing elsewhere. (And of course, South Africa — but as far as we know they didn't test.)
