Were the Nazis politically aligned with the left or the right?

by TheMassesOpiate

I have two friends who have been arguing about this for the last couple weeks. I'm interested in policy and tangible evidence. I know that the nazis called themselves socialists, but they also coined the term "privatization". Getting mixed signals here, and hoping for some clarification

'Nazi' is short for National Socialist, and even if this weren't the case, name is hardly enough to make something. My own name is Portuguese and is rendered and pronounced in the Portuguese manner; does that automatically make me a citizen of Brazil or Portugal? I commend to your attention the appropriate portion of the FAQ, 'How Socialist was National Socialism', if the link doesn't automatically take you there.
