I'm interested to read about what happened to Britain after the empire left. I know the church stayed, but no much else. Can anyone recommend a good book on this part of history?
For general reading, I'd recommend Thomas Charles-Edwards' After Rome and Wendy Davies' Wales in the Early Middle Ages.
For really up-to-date scholarship, I'd suggest Susan Oosthuizen's The Emergence of the English.
