Not at all. I'm Filipino. We lost our war of independence after the United States bought us from Spain, and yet there is still a Filipino point of view to those events. The US has its own version of that in the Lost Cause. The vast majority of English-language treatments of the Vietnam War are from, you guessed it, a US point of view. English scholarship on the Battle of Midway relied on the testimony of Fuchida Mitsuo for near on fifty years until later research proved that "Fuchida's book contains transparent lies" - and a considerable part of proving him wrong was access to Japanese sources.
