Was the Confederacy historically inherently anti-semitic, and how does 'map' with those channel that history? Sidebar question is why such followers are now sometimes pro-Israel, others vehemently anti-jewish?

There's always more that can be said on the topic, especially since the most recent answers are from a few years ago now, and both the state of scholarship and this subreddit's standards are under constant refinement. However, I think you'll get a pretty good picture from the following threads:

If you want a book recommendation, the gold standard work on the topic seems to be Robert Rosen's The Jewish Confederates. I have not read it myself and couldn't give you a review of it, but if it's good enough for u/[deleted], it's good enough for me.

To your second question, look no further than:

  • u/sunagainstgold's scintillating answer to this question on Billy Graham's anti-semitism...

  • Or, well, do look further. I'm not your mom. There's also three quite good answers in this older thread, which also gives you some reading recommendations and a somewhat more fleshed-out discussion, if that's what you're looking for.
