How would I go about applying for a house if they were provided? Was it common to sell your house and upgrade or did most people live in the one house for their whole lives?

It's a pretty huge topic so there is always lots more to say...and I probably focused too closely (as I often do!) on how things worked in the crusader states, which is the opposite end of the world from medieval England. But hopefully those help a bit.
