Are the later games of Assassins Creed (Origins, Odyssey, Valhalla) historically accurate?

by Vitachris

Well its a game so it wont be 100% accurate. But im asking about the enviroments, the story, the time period, the weapons, buildings, stuff like that. Can i learn anything from it?

Hello, you may enjoy our recent AC: Valhalla-themed AMA here.

Good question, I answered a similar question about Assassin's Creed Origins when it first came out. To make a long answer short, the game's world is as accurate as possible and the developers took great pains to consult with experts on the culture, society and geography of Ptolemaic Egypt.

The game's "Discovery Mode" offers a really wonderful educational experience as a guided virtual tour of ancient Egypt.

Obviously they had to take some creative liberties, especially with regards to major plot points and historical events. Some weapons too are fantasy gear, but it is a video game after all. Shotgun bows and anime swords notwithstanding, it is a really well crafted game from a historical perspective.

I never did a full review of AC: Odyssey, but my overall impression was that it took greater creative liberties with ancient Greece than Origins had with Egypt. /u/Iphikrates does a much deeper dive in this AMA on the Peloponnesian War and Assassin's Creed: Odyssey.

Hopefully these help answer your question!
