Hey all.
I'm looking for recommendations for anything that covers the political, economic, and/or cultural impact of the pirate republic at Nassau. I have The Republic of Pirates by Woodard and Villains of All Nations by Rediker by those mainly stick to the golden age of pirates. I'm looking for something that spans the 18th century or beyond. Anything at all would be helpful. Thanks.
short answer: it didnt have a big impact
long answer: most of the pardoned pirates went to the american colonies or to britain, which meant that the people that were there mostly didnt stay, as nassau didnt keep its 1-2k population from the republic era, politically and culturally the impact was further reduced by the implementation of slave plantations and the import of slaves which were very rare at the pirate republic's time.
also economically the bahamas as a whole got better economically after the pirates were gone so i guess thats a moderately big impact?
