I recently had the realization that the swastika was originally a cultural Indian symbol and Aryan was the term used to describe Indo-Iranians, so why did Hitler use these terms and symbols, especially since he was against a lot of different cultures?
Huh, thought this was in the VFAQ.
u/commiespaceinvader answers "Where did the swastika symbol come from?" (and how its association with "far-right, anti-Semitic, and völkisch groups in Germany predates the Nazi party").
Similarly, u/Jan_van_Bergen's explanation of the Nazi party's usage of "Aryan".
And u/Killfile details "Why was being Aryan such a big deal to the Germans?"
