Getting my Masters in Holocaust and Genocidal Studies

by mrs_combo

How demanding is the field, if, at all? I'm thinking about going back to school and getting my Masters in Holocaust and Genocidal Studies. I have been told by multiple people that I would make an excellent Professor! But what other professions are there that I can use my degree in? Thanks!

Holocaust and Genocidal Studies is an incredibly interesting field to get involved in. I believe it fits into the wider spectrum of a Masters in History so you will usually be able to apply to jobs that History graduates apply to.

These can be, but are not limited to:

  • History Professor - you will need to do a PhD but you can specialise in Holocaust/Genocide studies which this Masters should equip you for.
  • Teacher - you can teach in a high school as a History teacher, can't promise that wider Genocide studies will be focused on other than lessons on WW2.
  • Archivist, curator, museum worker
  • Working in a NGO, public sector, private sector

The options are endless for a history graduate!
