Looking for good biographies (or any non-fiction book really) of female role models in history.

Hi - my wife and I just had our first child, a baby girl.

As she grows I want to provide her with role models of great women from history. If anyone here has a go-to book or biography of someone like this, I'd love to know about it. I feel like I need to know the info first, that way I can start talking about these people while she's still young.

If you were significantly inspired as a child by some particular woman from history, please let me know!

First, congratulations! Welcome to the world, baby girl! My go-to baby shower gift regardless of gender has long been the Little Feminist Board Book, seen here. (It's less that they're feminists and more that they're well-known women. You can save the lesson of "not all women in power are feminists" for when she's older!)

The She Persisted books are solid and anything by Vashti Harrison is a delight to read, especially her Little Leaders book. The I Look Up To... series is also good, especially the one about RBG.

She's likely a little too young for Amazons, Abolitionists, and Activists but it's a wonderful read, full of all sorts of history and inspiring women that might offer you and your wife some ideas for other texts.

My daughter enjoys Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls - she's 7 so she can mostly read on her own, but before she could read she still enjoyed hearing the stories and looking at the pictures. The biographies are pretty short though, only a page for each one.
