I was curious to know how more or how less frequently did people use profanities in their day to day talk than we do in todays time ?

What is considered profane changes over time. It’s hard to measure because there are many variables to your question. People’s sensitivities have changed, the context in which words (like fuck) can be used have evolved. In the end it seems to me that most profanities are used as a way to express strong emotion or to solicit strong emotions from others. I have found that while it’s fun to swear, It’s not the most effective way to express oneself. This is a judgement on my part, but I can’t help but feel like people who swear constantly or use filler words to just be bad communicators in general. Altho the shock value and humor in some profanities can definitely be entertaining.

To answer your question I assume the only thing that has changed is how tolerant people have become off taboo and controversial speech. It’s likely with tolerance the amount of profanity has increased... to the point now where some words or terms aren’t really even considered as profane or profane to certain people and groups.
