No, but probably due to some propaganda-ish stuff taught to children in a third world military junta. As for north Vietnam, yes, of course, and it’s a very mixed bag. In a Vietnamese perspective they were trying to unify the country under one ideology or be successful and the leadership was just pulling the war forward.
