I am quite interested in various points in history where quite different cultures and/or religions came in contact and what came about because of that. One of the subjects of this that fascinated me was what kind of culture there came to be in the lands conquered by the crusaders in the period that they ruled them and I was looking to read further about this.
Culture of the crusader states, my favourite subject! Here are some of my previous answers that may be helpful:
Some "what was life like" questions:
What was life like as a European living in a crusader state?
What was life like for common people during the crusades, especially during the siege of Jerusalem?
Questions about crusader "culture":
Was there ever a distinct Outremer Culture in the Kingdom of Jerusalem and other Crusader States?
Did Crusader states make attempts at colonizing the area with European settlers?
Questions about other religious groups:
What was the social standing of oriental christians in the crusader states of the levant?
How were Muslim pilgrims/residents treated within the Kingdom of Jerusalem?
And a longer summary of all this:
The Histories of Religious Minorities Floating Feature about minorities in the crusader states
There should be some good books and articles listed at the end of all those posts. If you need help narrowing things down some more I'd be happy to help.
