During the American Revolution, George Washington marched his army from New York to Yorktown, VA. Has the route been researched and delineated on present day roads? Should such a historic route be marked as a way to make our history a living presence, despite the 200+ year interval?

Indeed it has, and it’s a National Historic Trail managed by the National Park Service. It’s called the Washington-Rochambeau Revolutionary Route.

It’s not a dedicated, hikeable trail like the Appalachian Trail. The parts that I’ve been on in Virginia are mostly just historical markers along highways.
