Why isn't Hannibal a more known figure beyond the "he rode elephants across the Alps to face Rome"? His whole campaigns surely must be taught or discussed in military circles. But why isn't he far more recognizable to the mainstream public? Why haven't the West had more fondness/care for Hannibal?
