i wanna learn more about ancient egypt, but i know absolutely nothing about it. so i wanted to know if the book list is beginer friendly or is there something else i should read first?
Yes, the list focuses primarily on books that are relatively readable and accessible to people who know little about ancient Egypt.
I recommend starting in particular with Barbara Mertz's Temples, Tombs, and Hieroglyphs and Red Land, Black Land, which are very lively and engaging overviews of Egyptian history and society. Ancient Egypt edited by David Silverman is also a good introduction if you'd prefer something with more photographs and illustrations.
Be sure to check out the History of Egypt podcast, which is unusually thorough and well researched for a history podcast. He is only up to the end of the Amarna period (late 14th century BCE), however, so there's still a long way to go.
