I am a black CPR certified man in 1950s Alabama, and a white woman is having a medical emergency nearby me. How am I treated? Am I even allowed to assist?

To address the medical aspect of your question, CPR certification did not exist in the 1950s. In fact, CPR did not exist in the 1950s either.

Mouth-to-mouth resuscitation was described in 1956, two years after Elam showed that expired breaths had sufficient oxygen for inhalation. Closed chest compressions were first described in 1891 by Maass.

However, it was only in 1960 that “CPR” - the combination of closed chest compressions and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation - was invented. CPR training of physicians started in the 60s, and CPR training of lay people began in the mid 60s.

However, if your theoretical black man had received some medical training, and the hypothetical situation occurred after 1956, they may think to try mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. So it may be better to use this scenario for your question.
