How many Armenians (and/or Greeks and Assyrians) survived the Armenian genocide?

by Full_Friendship_8769

There are many threads about the victim amount, but it’s rare to find information about the survivors. I’ve only found this wiki link (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Armenian_Genocide_survivors#Distribution) which claims that there were 800k survivors. How reliable is that source? What are other sources on the survivor amounts? When is the “line” from which we can say that the genocide started and ended? Do we count people who died later, due to the change of their conditions? (Eg. Escaped a death march but ended up in eastern Armenia and died to starvation in 1919). Are Hamidian (and other) massacres counted as a part of the genocide?

Thanks

Best proper document we have about the number of Armenians that was subject to mass deportation done by the Ottoman Empire is Talaat Pasha's Black Book which provides number by provinces and sanjaks.

NUMBER OF ARMENIANS DEPORTED
(Province Names) Deported Population
Ankara Province 47,224
Erzurum Province 128,657
Adana Province 46,031
Bitlis Province 109,521
Halep Province 34,451
Hüdavendigâr Province 66,413
Diyarbakır Province 61,002
Sivas Province 141,592
Trabzon Province 34,500
Mâmurettilâziz Province 74,206
İzmit Sanjak 54,370
Canik Sanjak 26,374
KaresiSanjak 8,290
HisarSanjak 7,327

924,158 in total.

The book also provides a counting for the remaining Armenians, whom numbers are between 350,000 to 400,000. We can round this upto 1,500,000 assuming there were Armenians that hid themselves by saying they are not Armenians or saying they are Muslims. This number also coincides with the numbers provided in France's Yellow Books.

Of those that were deported; it is impossible to provide an exact number as to how many died due to sickness, how many got murdered, how many got robbed, how many became slaves, how many were subject to mass killins at their final destination.

For the number of survivors; i suppose the remaining population in the Ottoman Empire can be counted as survivors, which is around 350,000 to 400,000.

I will leave the guessing part to your imagination as to how many survived the deportation process and its aftermath then you can add that number to the number above.

I've checked the link you've provided but I personally couldn't find any proper document in regards to this question and it lacks any serious quotation.
