What are reliable sources for history on the KKK?

by Flippin_garage

For school i have to wright a paper that counts 50% for my end grade when i graduate. I’m writing it on the similarities and differences between KKK and modern right wing movements, but i’m not sure where i can find reliable information. History.com does have an article on them, but from what i heard they aren’t credible. Any pointers?

Given your topic, I would particularly suggest giving a look to Belew's Bring the War Home: The White Power Movement and Paramilitary America as it looks at the intersection and coming together of various racist groups including the KKK and other white power groups.

Beyond that, for the original KKK Parsons's Ku-Klux: The Birth of the Klan During Reconstruction is the most recent treatment, and I'm partial to Baker's Gospel According to the Klan: The KKK's Appeal to Protestant America, 1915-1930 if you are looking for a book that looks at the Second Klan.
