Hi there I'm writing a report for history about the writing of the Communist manifesto and have to find some sources to annotate and have to find a source that is out of the box and no one would think about would anyone either a historian or a regular person be able to give me some interesting sources or msg me about the communist manifesto and answer the 1 of the 3 questions. What caused karl marx to write the Communist manifesto. How significant was karl marx in his lifetime. How does the Communist manifesto still affect the world today
Hi - we as mods have approved this thread, because while this is a homework question, it is asking for clarification or resources, rather than the answer itself, which is fine according to our rules. This policy is further explained in this Rules Roundtable thread and this META Thread.
As a result, we'd also like to remind potential answerers to follow our rules on homework - please make sure that your answers focus appropriately on clarifications and detailing the resources that OP could be using.
Additionally, while users may be able to help you out with specifics relating to your question, we also have plenty of information on /r/AskHistorians on how to find and understand good sources in general. For instance, please check out our six-part series, "Finding and Understanding Sources", which has a wealth of information that may be useful for finding and understanding information for your essay.
For significance during his life you could look at historical newspapers (there might be some free somewhere or your school might have a way to access) - I know for one that he was pretty unknown in Britain during his lifetime. But he may still get mentioned. (I am a historian of 1880s-1920s Britain, after he died, so I don’t know this super well but have some awareness) The last one I would google - I seem to remember there being an article in the guardian recently about the communist manifesto.
The first question would I imagine be answerable by reading some secondary sources on Marx and his life
