Was there any uniform divisional structure in any WW2 army?

by TheMemeHead

What I mean by this is were all the infantry divisions the same, and were all the tank divisions the same, or was it more hoi4 AI where they have like 10 infantry templates and 5 tanks

The US Army division organization were published in TO&E 2 for cavalry divisions, TO&E 7 for infanty divisions, and TO&E 17 for armored divisions. Likewise, the infantry regiment organization was TO&E 7-11, the infantry battalion TO&E 7-15, the infantry company TO&E 7-17. Tallying up the division strength covers a good number of documents, but it's all there.

While the published strength was fixed, in practice they would have various other units attached. An infantry division would often have an anti-aircraft artillery battalion, a cavalry squadron, a tank battalion, an anti-tank battalion, and a field artillery battalion all attached to augment their combat power. They might also detach a regiment to another unit.
