I'm sure this question has been asked many times, but I'm genuinely curious to know exactly how much knowledge Germany's allies had about the Holocaust. Moreover, did either Italy or Japan voice any opposition to Germany's policies during the Holocaust?
While I can't answer for Japan, I wrote about Italy's knowledge and involvement in the Holocaust over here, showing that Mussolini and the Italian leadership knew a great deal about the Holocaust, but didn't participate in the genocide until Germany invaded northern Italy and installed a puppet state in the last 2 years of the war.
