Matthias Corvinus’ Wikipedia page says his mom was in charge of his education because of his father’s bed-wetting. That’s it. No follow up. No clarifying info. It seems his dad was a respected nobleman who led troops into battle so is there something I’m missing here?

I’d just like some clarifying info. Bed-wetting sounds like a reason you can’t go off to war, not oversee your sons’ education. So yeah any details would be nice.

That was what Wikipedia calls "vandalism", some random IP address makes a funny edit and it sits there until someone deletes it. Someone has already changed it back, but presumably after seeing this question - it had been there for an embarrassingly long time before that, since January!

How Wikipedia articles come into being is probably a bit opaque to people who aren't used to it, but anyone can add anything and anyone can fix problems too. It seems like people usually think "Wikipedia" is a thing that writes and corrects itself, but it's not, it's just random people on the Internet, just like everyone here. You can actually go back and check the history of every article to see who wrote what, and when. (That's how I found out when the bed-wetting edit was made.)

The article is supposed to say that Matthias' father John Hunyadi was "absent", and that version has been restored now. John was away on the "Long Campaign" against the Ottomans when Matthias was born in 1443. The Battle of Varna took place the next year in 1444.
