Did people lose their minds about getting vaccines (mandated or otherwise) at any point in history as much as today?

This is a question regarding Covid-19 specifically, but in my lifetime I've seen the "anti-vax" movement grow. Is being "anti-vax" a historically frequent occurrence or is it an anomaly?

There's an awful lot more to say on this subject, but I wrote a bit about the origins of the anti-vax movement in this thread a few weeks ago, and there's also a link in there to an earlier answer from /u/PBRidesAgain. Short version: there have always been anti-vaxxers, and many elements of the current anti-vax movement have their roots right back in the context of the beginning of vaccination.
