Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
It has been a busy week folks, but one full of excitement! The AskHistorians 2021 Digital Conference ran for most of the week and was full of incredible panels, videos, Q&A’s and more! But just because we’re hosting the history event of the season doesn’t mean we can let everything else slip as well. So coming straight back with no break we have ourselves a brand spanking new edition of the Sunday Digest! In between the many, many conference events I’ve been deep in the comment mines making sure to catch every thread and every answer that might have slipped by in the excitement!
Don’t forget to shower those hard working writers with thanks and praise, upvote your favorites and spread the word!
To keep things somewhat organized and not chaotic, I’ll post just the conference megathreads in this first comment, and I’ll break out each individual panel in separate comments below. The Keynote is coming, along with some closing remarks. So keep your eye on next weeks or future digests for those!

A somewhat quiet Thursday Reading and Rec.
But check in on the party in the Friday Free for All!
We had a really nice META thread on the Impact of this subreddit! Cheers to /u/gwydapllew for a nice way to end the conference week.
And that wraps up a pretty fantastic week everyone! Please head over to check out the videos and panels, enjoy all the content, and I’ll see you next week for what should be a return to normal. Spooky normal!
As always, Sunday is also a chance to shout out those interesting yet overlooked threads that still cry out for an expert. Feel free to post your own as well, or those that caught your eye!
/u/Royal-Run4641 asked about Warlords of China.
/u/Fornication_handgun asked Italy have fiat, France have Citroen, and Britain have Morris. But did other, less known European countries (e.g Spain, Poland, or Hungary) have their own domestic car manufacturers?
