Today:
Welcome to this week's instalment of /r/AskHistorians' Sunday Digest (formerly the Day of Reflection). Nobody can read all the questions and answers that are posted here, so in this thread we invite you to share anything you'd like to highlight from the last week - an interesting discussion, an informative answer, an insightful question that was overlooked, or anything else.
Welcome back to another great day! We’ve got quite the digest laid out for you to enjoy, so kick up your feet, grab a drink and get comfortable with some history. Don’t forget to show some appreciation for the hard working contributors and writers. Especially after this weeks sprawling META thread!
AskHistorians Podcast Episode 191 - The Cyrus Cylinder with Trevor Culley with our very own /u/Trevor_Culley.
The Thursday Reading and Rec thread!
The first META thread was Why is it whenever I go to read the comments on anything here they are all deleted - basically every post?
And even I participated in Would any of the FAQ Finders be willing to do a roundup of holiday posts from years gone by?
And finally we had the sprawling, giant I swear for the past few months, I haven't seen a single question get answered, every time I check all the comments have been deleted. Maybe it's just me but I haven't seen a single answer Which yes, does look similar to the exact same thing a few days earlier.
And thus we come to a close once more. Enjoy the posts. Keep it classy out there, and I’ll see you next week AH fans!
Sunday is also a chance to shout out those interesting yet overlooked questions that still remain unanswered. Feel free to post your own or others you saw!
/u/JimeDorje asked How much do we know about the Kirschenbaum family?
/u/Goat_im_Himmel asked How did the erroneous association of Mary Magdalene with prostitution develop and come to have such a hold in the popular understanding of her place within the Bible?
/u/10z20Luka asked Do we have any surviving evidence of 19th century Spanish sea shanties?
