T.V. History Question: Why is The Honeymooners on NYE?

by TR_Jessie

How come there's a Honeymooners marathon every New Year's Eve? Is it because there's a New Year's Eve episode? Do they, like, end the marathon with that episode? Does anyone know when this tradition started or what channel started it?

I finally found an article that answers it. Looks like local CBS channels (CBS made the show) do it. This article mentions PIX-11 in NYC, although I've seen it on other local channels (maybe CBS or possibly their partner channel CW). It says PIX-11 started the tradition in 1996. Since the show is set in NYC and the show encapsules NYC culture, that would be why they chose that show. And also it has a New Year's Eve episode. Plus, NYC is heavily associated with NYE because of the ball drop.
